The Taste of Summer ...

The taste of summer has arrived at The Stag at Offchurch, which has just launched its tempting and imaginative new seasonal menu.

Starter highlights include dressed Devon crab, twice baked Shropshire blue cheese souffle, pan-fried duck livers with raspberries, and mushroom fricasse priced from £5.

Due to popular demand, platters of fruits de mer and charcouterie to share continue as firm favourites and are complemented by an anti-pasti variation featuring sweet peppers, air-dried tomatoes, tapenade and an aubergine caviar priced from £8.00.Moving onto the main course selection, The Stag offers something for every discerning palate with a range dishes to whet your appetite.

Choice is definitely the challenge, and the menu created by the team of Raymond Blanc trained chefs are all freshly prepared, home-made and cooked to perfection. This includes a variety of dishes including pan fired sea bass, salmon fish cakes, whole roasted poussin, and traditional belly pork and crackling.The Stag’s range of succulent 28 day aged Aubrey Allen steaks are presented with a range of freshly prepared sauces and hand-made chips, priced from £13.00 to £19.00 for surf and turf, alias fillet steak with tiger prawns.

Tempting desserts and cheese platters complete the line-up from £4.50 with delights such as classic strawberry tart, chocolate fondant, pistachio ice cream and gooseberry posset.

Those in search of a light bite need look no further than some of the tempting salads, platters or take their choice from the sandwich menu featuring toasted Panini and a range of speciality breads. The Stag Ploughmans at £7 is also proving a popular favourite served on a wooden platter with two choices from pork pie, cheddar cheese, free range ham or half pint of prawns, served with pickles, homemade chutney, leaves and French crusty bread.

And finally, diners opting for that lasting impression will enjoy the discerning range of teas, coffees and liqueurs for that finishing touch to a memorable meal.

Eating out is definitely the new ‘inn’ at Offchurch with the stylish arrival of new al fresco dining at The Stag, as Charles Harris the general manager explained: “We’ve just completed the second phase of our refurbishment by turning our attentions to a new outdoor eating and drinking experience which we’ve created with comfort in mind. Rattan style designer furniture offering both formal and casual seating is accompanied by music and patio heaters and has taken up pride of place within the newly landscaped gardens.”
